About This Fragrance

Sånd by ånd fragrances is a Oriental Spicy fragrance for women and men. Sånd was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is Simon Constantine. Top note is Banana; middle notes are Cardamom and Black Pepper; base notes are Australian Sandalwood, Benzoin and Labdanum. "Sånd is the second fragrance to be launched by ånd. At its heart is the heady and delicious Dutjahn, the ancient name for Australian Sandalwood. Dutjahn is also the name of our partners, the prize-winning producer who have worked tirelessly to revitalise the lands and livelihoods deep in the Gibson Desert in Western Australia. The Wongi and Martu Aboriginal people are the ancient guardians of this land and of the Sandalwood itself. They have helplessly watched much of their ancient domain destroyed and degraded by natural and some very unnatural causes. Dutjahn, in partnership with both Aboriginal land owners and top industry experts are miraculously breathing life back into the dusty lungs of the ailing land to release the highest imaginable quality of sandalwood to the wider world. Through restoring degraded farmland by nurturing sandalwood and establishing mixed agroforestry, they’ve helped improve the biodiversity of climate-tortured Western Australia. By harvesting only ‘deadwood’ (standing dead wood found and distilled) no trees are destroyed to make the essential oils that form the heart of sånd. It is this determination, dedication and resilience that we’re proud to be supporting and are delighted to have the purest essence of Dutjahn in our humble fragrance."
