The drink, said to have hallucinogenic effects, was often used by creatives to unleash their powers, but was strong enough to often leave the drinkers in a kind of stupor as they swam through the heaviness of the drink. Hurwitz celebrates the many artistic depictions of such drinkers with an old world aldehydic artemisia-scented perfume including wood violet and the alluring smell of skin.
