Melipona by Nectar Olfactif is a Oriental Vanilla fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Melipona was launched in 2024. The nose behind this fragrance is Serge de Oliveira. Top note is Bourbon Vanilla; middle notes are Cashmere Wood and Amber; base notes are Vanilla Sugar, Musk and Amber. Vanilla comes from Mexico where the Aztecs used it to soften the bitterness of chocolate. There were numerous European attempts to cultivate pods outside their original cradle. Louis XIV fell in love with it and wanted to cultivate it on Bourbon Island, in Reunion. But all attempts under his reign failed. No one knew how to fertilize vanilla outside its native area. Europeans were unaware that the Mexican Melipona bee was responsible for pollination. Indeed, thanks to it, the orchid provides a long green fruit commonly called vanilla pod.
