About This Fragrance

Hortense by Rance 1795 is a Oriental Floral fragrance for women. Hortense was launched in 2015. Top notes are Cardamom, Bergamot and Black Pepper; middle notes are Cinnamon, Rose and Incense; base notes are Vanilla, Mahogany and Cedar. The French house of Rance 1795 presented two new fragrances expected on the market in January 2015, which belong to the Imperial collection. Men’s fragrance Heroique represents the spirit of the man who wants to leave the trace. The spark of his success is depicted in notes of the composition. Women’s edition Hortense is dedicated to daughter of Queen Josephine from her first marriage – mother of future Napoleon III. Jeanne Sandra Rance wanted to "express the honor to Napoleon, who contributed to the history of Rance, giving it a great significance". Women’s fragrance HORTENSE is inspired by beauty, seduction and intelligence of Hortense, daughter to Marquis Alexandre de Beauharnais and Rose Tascher de la Pageri, later known as Josephine. She had light blue eyes and blond wavy hair and liked to perfume it with Dutch floral fragrances and spices of the East, which she adored. Late on, she became the Queen of Holland and she won people’s hearts by simplicity and grace. In 1810 Jean Rance name done of his fragrances after her, interpreting her taste and celebrating her beauty and herself. Sandra Rance wanted that the collection Rance 1795 presents a fragrance dedicated to her, created in contemporary way, leaving a breath of old times. Opening of the composition blends luminous grapefruit with cardamom and pepper, depicting her love of spices. Floral choir of roses blended with cinnamon and incense bring a breath of the East, while cedar, mahogany and vanilla characterize a precious scent in the base. Women’s version Hortense arrives as 50 and 100ml Eau de Parfum
